The Old Ginn House is situated in the village of Great Clifton.  The nearest towns are Cockermouth - 5 miles & Workington - 2 miles.

The Western Lakes - Bassenthwaite, Crummock, Buttermere etc are less than 20 minutes drive.
There is a bus stop beside the premises on the main road and there is a frequent bus service (timetables are usually available from reception).
There are a number of local taxi services.
The nearest train station is in Workington.

The large entrance gate leads into the courtyard which is well lit and has a good tarmac surface.
There are marked parking bays for approx 40 cars - some in the courtyard but the majority at the back of the buildings.
There are 2 disabled parking bays directly in front of the main building entrance.

The main entrance has full disabled access ramps. There is a small threshold (1") from the ramp into the hallway.
The main entrance door is 31½ " wide.  The floor surface in the hallway is tiles.

The reception/lounge is on the right.  The door is 29" wide. The floor is carpeted. Staff will be happy to come from behind reception to help complete registration forms.

The hallway has tiled flooring.
The hallway is well lit.
All the doors are at least 29" wide
The bedroom block corridors are carpeted and well lit.

The toilets are accessible from the reception/lounge and the bar.
The toilets have tiled flooring.
The corridor to the toilets has tiled flooring.
There are no steps from the reception/lounge to the toilets.
There are 2 steps from the bar to the toilets.
There is no actual disabled toilet.

There are baby changing facilities in the WC in bedroom block 3.

The Dining Room has an upper and lower area.  

The upper area is tiled. The lower area is part carpeted and part tiled.
There are no steps from the hallway to the upper area.  
The upper dining room, reception/lounge and toilets are all on one level. 
There are 5 carpeted steps from the upper dining room to the lower area.  
The tables are well spaced allowing ease of movement, and can be re-arranged to suit requirements. 
Breakfast is served in the upper dining room.  
Large print menus are available. 

High chairs are available.

The Bar has 2 steps down into it from the hallway.  
The bar is a rounded room with booth seating around the edge. 
The area around the bar has tiled flooring, the main floor area is carpeted. 
There are 3 carpeted steps from the bar into the lower dining area.

The Lounge is carpeted.
The lounge has chairs and coffee tables.  Chairs can be re-arranged to suit requirements.

Meeting Rooms - The restaurant can be split and used for meeting etc.

The bedrooms are in 3 blocks across the courtyard from the main building.
There are a total of 21 bedrooms offering Superior, Classic & Standard Double rooms, Classic & Standard Twin rooms, Superior & Classic Family rooms.  
All the bedroom doors are at least 28" wide.
All the bedrooms are en-suite with shower or both bath and shower.

Bedroom Block 1 - has 3 steps up in to it, and has ground floor and first floor rooms.

Bedroom Block 2 - has no steps into it and has ground floor double bedrooms and one first floor double bedroom.

One ground floor bedroom has a walk-in shower with a step into the shower.

One ground floor bedroom is more disabled friendly – it has a large bathroom with walk-in shower with a small step into the shower (it is impossible to eliminate this step due to the concrete floors and structure of the building), an adjustable height shower, a fold up shower seat and grab rails. There is also a grab rail next to the toilet and washbasin.

Bedroom Block 3 - has a 1" threshold and has a ground floor superior bedroom with Jacuzzi bath and large walk-in shower with a fold up shower seat (not full disabled facilities).

It also had first floor bedrooms.

 
Cots are available.

Bathrooms - All bedrooms are en-suite – see bedroom information above.

Patio area in the courtyard with wooden picnic tables.

Small grassed area to the back of the restaurant.

If you are hard of hearing please let reception know if you would be unable to hear the fire alarm etc.

Sat, Sun & Bank Holidays - 8am until the bar closes

The bar will close at midnight unless there are no customers,

in which case it will close any time after 10.30pm.
We have no night porter but, in case of emergencies, the telephone will be transferred to the duty manager.
